The newest versions of the ISO standards now make the Process Approach a fundamental requirement. As Auditors and Implementers, we need to determine process inputs, process outputs, necessary resources, operational controls, required competencies, and measures of effectiveness for every process within our system.

A process is an activity (or set of interrelated activities) that utilizes resources to transform inputs into outputs. The Process Approach would have us understand the processes which make up our system and how these processes align, sequence, and interact.
